Chennai: Minister of Highways State E V Velu has set December 31 as a deadline for his departmental officials to complete the construction of Velachery and Medavakkam Flyovers.
After reviewing the progress of five different highway infrastructure projects in and around Chennai on Sunday, Velu said, “I have urged the contractor and highway authority to complete work without delay”.
Velachery flyover is being built with estimated costs? 108 Crore Since 2016.
The Flyover has two arms that connect the velachery bypass road with Tambaram and Taramani.
At Medavakkam, a blanket arm opened to the public in February ahead of the polls of the State Assembly.
But the second arm, which is the longest silver arm in the city, is still delayed.
The two projects were delayed in the southern suburb of Chennai, threw the traffic movement out of the equipment.
About 1.2 Lakh riders use Velachery-Tambaram Road every day.

The Minister also reviewed works in Chretet (Radha Nagar Subway), Koyambedu (Flyover) and Tambaram (Footbridge Footbridge).
These projects are expected to be overcome in March, August and October 2021, he said, linking the postponement of land acquisition problems.
He told reporters a special officer would be appointed to deal with land acquisition and avoid the delay.
