Two flyovers at Chennai’s South will be ready at the end of the year

Chennai: Minister of Highways State E V Velu has set December 31 as a deadline for his departmental officials to complete the construction of Velachery and Medavakkam Flyovers.
After reviewing the progress of five different highway infrastructure projects in and around Chennai on Sunday, Velu said, “I have urged the contractor and highway authority to complete work without delay”.
Velachery flyover is being built with estimated costs? 108 Crore Since 2016.
The Flyover has two arms that connect the velachery bypass road with Tambaram and Taramani.
At Medavakkam, a blanket arm opened to the public in February ahead of the polls of the State Assembly.
But the second arm, which is the longest silver arm in the city, is still delayed.
The two projects were delayed in the southern suburb of Chennai, threw the traffic movement out of the equipment.
About 1.2 Lakh riders use Velachery-Tambaram Road every day.
Helped delay and poor maintenance work had made him the sadness of Medavakkam and velachery occupants.
The road below the construction site is covered with holes, lumps and gravel, and many dust is kicked every time a heavy vehicle passes, said Sai Kumar, Residencivist from Medavakkam.
“The streets also become unsafe for two-wheeled riders because they tend to slip a lot during rainy days.
There isn’t enough barricades or lighting,” he added.
The Minister also reviewed works in Chretet (Radha Nagar Subway), Koyambedu (Flyover) and Tambaram (Footbridge Footbridge).
These projects are expected to be overcome in March, August and October 2021, he said, linking the postponement of land acquisition problems.
He told reporters a special officer would be appointed to deal with land acquisition and avoid the delay.
