Bhubaneswar: Two men from Uttar Pradesh were arrested by police Saheed Nagar here on Sundays for allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana to Delhi with the help of a courier company in two boxes with a vaccine written.
The defendant was identified as Anirudh Kumar Mishra (30) Gonda and Manish Mishra (32) Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Police said the duo had taken a rental house in the Rasulgarh area recently.
To avoid intensive anti-drug enforcement and often the police often appear on the road, the defendant accommodates the idea of ​​hiding marijuana in a vaccine box and using courier services for hassle free transportation.
“We caught them with around 42 kg of marijuana (worth around Rs 3 Lakh).
They want to send him to Delhi.
Interestingly, the name and address of the recipient is Manish Mishra (accused of) from Chandni Chowk in Delhi.
Even though he is from Ghaziabad, he lives in the area Chandni Chowk, “said the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone-V) Sanjeev Satiatpathy.
The police said the defendant sent marijuana in the same way four times in the past few months using the same courier company in the Rasulgarh.
They said one of the consignments was arrested by Delhi police recently.
“They have ordered parcels to Delhi.
Because one of them is the recipient, they fly to Delhi before the consignment reaches their address so they can accept it without hassle,” said Satapati.
This time, the courier company staff suspected the activities accused and told the police.
“When we asked them to open two small sacks, they told us that sacks contained clothes,” said one staff.
The police said when they opened the parcels, they found two boxes with vaccines and drugs written on them.
Police said the defendant had bought marijuana from two suppliers in the Ganjam and Gajapati District.
Two separate police teams have been sent to capture suppliers.
