Kozhikode: Two more people have been identified with symptoms of nipah virus infection, Health Minister Kerala Veen George said here on Sunday.
Both are among 20 high-risk contacts from a 12-year-old child who died, he said.
“We have identified 188 contacts until now.
The supervision team has marked 20 of them as high-risk contacts.
These two high-risk contacts have symptoms.
Both are health workers.
One works with a private hospital, while the other is a staff member.
Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, “he told reporters after leading a high-level meeting to take a stock of the situation.
He said all 20 high-risk contacts would shift to Kozhikode Medical College at night, while other contacts from children have been asked to remain in isolation.
The Pay Ward at Medical College Hospital has been completely converted into a dedicated Nipah ward, he said.
