Two held in Noida to loot more than 12 people after making friends with them online

Noida: Two men who were accused of robbing more than a dozen people after making friends with them in the Gay dating application was arrested on Sunday after a short shootout in the 58 sector, police said.
One of the accused, police said, was injured in a shootout.
Following Tip-Off, Ranvijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of the Additional Police, Noida, said the police put a trap near the Jaipuria Management Institute.
When he saw the two men – Deepanshu and Amit – riding a motorcycle without registration plate, the police signaled to them to stop.
“The defendant opened fire in the police and tried to escape, so we had to reply.
Deepanshu suffered a bullet injury at his leg while his accomplice, Amit, managed to escape.
He was arrested later during the preliminary operation,” said Singh.
ADCP said the two men would be friends with people in the Blued application, chat application and gay dating, and then asked the victim to meet them.
“They will usually call their victims in several remote places and seize valuables and other items.
They are also involved in a variety of street crimes including seizing, theft and others,” Singh said, adding that the two men were residents of the Badalpur area in Greater Noida.
They have been ordered under the Indian Criminal Code 392 (robbery) and information technology law.
They will be produced before the local court on Monday, the police added.
The firearms made by the country, stolen motorbikes and nine cellphones were restored from their ownership, added the police.
