Letter: With some cases found in the last few days in two housing buildings in the Athwalines and PAL regions, the Ministry of Health of Municipal Corporation (SMC) has stated this as a detention zone.
The exercise that had begun after almost one and a half months was carried out after the entire residential tower was found to be infected with increasing Covid-19 positive cases.
Points in and out at MEGH Mayur Apartment in Athwalines and Sumeru Silverleaf in the PAL area have been sealed and the signboard has been seen to warn outsiders.
Buildings will be sealed for 10 days and detention restrictions will be extended if more cases are reported in the coming days, officials get information.
A team of the SMC health department has been deployed at Megh Mayur Apartment to ensure that this guideline is strictly followed and continues to test occupants.
Eight positive cases have been found in four days in two Menara Apartment Megh Mayur, which, four cases come from two families.
At Sumeru Silverleaf, four cases have been found in two days and these cases are not from the same family.
“One or two cases found every day in this apartment and therefore, we decided to declare their detention zone.
Our team will continue to test residents regularly,” said a health official.
“Because Megh Mayur is a large residential apartment, a team has been deployed to test residents regularly,” added the official.
The first case detected in Megh Mayur Apartment has a history of travel when infected people have returned from Palitana.
However, what was found positively at Sumeru Silverleaf did not have a travel history.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health also declares a micro detention zone also where one floor apartment or several people’s houses are being sealed for citizen free movements.
