Bhubaneswar: Bhadrak police confiscated around 1 kg of brown sugar worth almost Rs 1 Crore and arrested two of the Chhak power plants in the Randia area on Wednesday.
The seizure was important because Bhadrak was the neighboring district of Balalasore, who was famous for being the center of brown sugar smuggling.
On October 22, Bhadrak police had arrested three people, including two women and confiscated around 316 grams of brown sugar from them.
In the last case, Pradhan was accused of – Srikant (35) and Arjun Sethi (32) -Were was arrested with narcotics during the enforcement of motorized vehicle rules (MV) on traffic violators.
Bhadrak SP, Charan Singh Meena said the defendant bought brown sugar from the Balasore Jaleswar area and planned to sell it in Bhadrak.
The police tried to identify their other gang members.
To ensure that the threat of the drug did not infiltrate Bhadrak from the adjacent Ballasore, Bhadrak police launched an anti-narcotics drive earlier this year.
“We have shown zero tolerance to drug abuse.
The action is being carried out on drug smugglers.
We have registered 23 cases under the NDPS law, capturing 54 people and confiscating around 5.734 kg of brown which is worth more than RS 5 Crore so far this year.
In addition, marijuana weighing around 31 kg has been confiscated in the district so far, “said SP, Meena.
