Bhubaneswar: Bhadrak police confiscated around 1 kg of brown sugar worth almost Rs 1 Crore and arrested two of the Chhak power plants in the Randia area on Wednesday.
The seizure was important because Bhadrak was the neighboring district of Balalasore, who was famous for being the center of brown sugar smuggling.
On October 22, Bhadrak police had arrested three people, including two women and confiscated around 316 grams of brown sugar from them.

To ensure that the threat of the drug did not infiltrate Bhadrak from the adjacent Ballasore, Bhadrak police launched an anti-narcotics drive earlier this year.

We have registered 23 cases under the NDPS law, capturing 54 people and confiscating around 5.734 kg of brown which is worth more than RS 5 Crore so far this year.
