Two Jihadist Commanders Killed in Syria Drone Strikes: Monitor

BeIRUT: Drone Strikes Monday killed two Jihadist commanders close to Al-Qaeda in the Syrian Syrian Monitor area of ​​Syria, said the war monitor.
Raids was carried out by a US-led international coalition that fought against Jihadists in Syria and Iraq, Syrian observatory said for human rights.
The US military acknowledged the murder of an Al-Qaeda official, shortly after the coalition told the AFP did not strike in the province of Idlib on Monday.
“US troops conducted a strike contra-kinetic terrorism near Idlib, Syria, today, at the senior leader of Al-Qaeda,” said a spokesman for US Central Command (Centcom), Lieutenant Josie Lynne Lenny, said in a statement.
“The initial indication is that we hit the individual we are headed, and there is no indication of civilian casualties as a result of a strike,” he said.
The strike targets a vehicle on the road that leads from the city of IDLIB to Binish further north, according to the Observatory.
The Head of the Hemp Observatory Abdel Rahman told AFP that one of the killed commanders was Tunisia, while others came from Yemen or Saudi Arabia, without identifying the group.
The Idlib region was dominated by the former Al-Qaeda Affiliate Syria, but the rebels and other jihadists were also present.
Jihadist factions have become the target of the strike of the Syrian, Russian, US and international coalition in the past.
Nine Jihadists were killed in October 2019 in Russian airstrikes in the province of Idlib, while US attacks a month earlier killed at least 40 jihadist leaders.
The Syrian war has killed around half a million people since starting in 2011 with brutal crackdown in anti-government protests, spinning to the complex battlefield involving foreign troops, militias and jihadists.
