Vadodara: The Gmers Medical College, Gotri stopped two junior residents and looked for police actions against the former college student in connection with the Ragging incident that occurred at the Hostel campus on Saturday morning.
Anti-Ragging Committee 12 Universities Members on Sunday held a meeting based on formal complaints received from the second year students of the MBBS made to do 100 sit-up by their seniors.
According to complaints, around 60 second year students were awakened around 4am on Saturday morning by their seniors, made to stand on the line and asked to do sit-ups.
The first Ragging incident has rocked medical colleges because one of the second year students began vomiting, collapsing and had to be rushed to the victim’s ward for treatment.
“Students who have undergone an examination at the Orthopedic Department are stable.
All reports are normal.
But he has taken psychiatric care and the incident makes him traumatized,” said Dean College Dr.
Varsha Godbole.
“We have stopped two junior residents with the orthopedic and surgical department.
The third said to have accompanied the duo is a former student but does not work with us in any capacity.
We will approach the police on Monday and will take collective decisions about him too, “He said.
Godbole confirmed that some of the third year students who were also crowned that the second year students would also face action after the right probe.
On Sunday, the third year students claimed before the panel was suppressed by the trio including two junior residents and their friends to swing the second year students because they did not show “respect” to their seniors.
But the panel has also received a statement from several second year students who said that the senior liberal with those who could not do sit-ups.
“We have provided guarantees to all students that we will take strict action against all that is found guilty so that such events are not repeated in our college,” he said.
