Mysuru: Century-century signs of the City of Lansdowne and Devaraja Market, which are located right outside MySuru Palace – will be pulled down because they have surpassed their utilities and are declared suitable for demolition, the Minister of Development Urban Ba Basavaraju said about Friday.
In their place, the government plans to build a replica near the iconic building at a cost of Rs 145 Crore.
The two buildings are unstable structurally because of their age.
The part of the 130-year-old Lansdowne building collapsed in August 2012, leaving four dead.
After the incident, MySuru City Corporation, his custodian, emptied tenants and closed the building for renovation.
However, the Devaraja market seems to be dilapidated as a nest of city trade activities.
