Two members committee formed to probe incident of removing shrouds from bodies buried on banks of Ganga

PRAYAGRAJ: A two members committee comprising ADM (Administration) and SP (Trans Ganga) has been constituted to probe the incident wherein some unidentified persons had removed shrouds from the bodies buried in the sand at Shringverpur ghat on the banks of Ganga river in trans Ganga area of Prayagraj district. The district authorities swung into action after a video clip wherein some unidentified men were spotted removing shrouds from bodies buried in sand at Shringverpur Ghat went viral on social media on Tuesday. District Magistrate (Prayagraj) Bhanu Chandra Goswami and DIG \ SSP (Prayagraj) Sarvashresth Tripathi found the issue sensitive and serious and further ordered the probe into the incident. DM Goswami said that the probe committee would conduct a thorough probe into the incident and submit its report at the earliest. He also said that committee members would also identify the elements who were involved in this act and what was their motive and reason behind it. The committee would also recommend legal action against persons if found guilty regarding the incident. The committee members would also probe all the aspects and angles regarding the incident, said the DM. On Tuesday, a video clip and photos showing some men engaged in removing shrouds from bodies buried in sand on the banks of Ganga – Shringverpur ghat- went viral on social media, and set alarm bells ringing for authorities of police, and district administration to conduct a thorough probe into the incident to find out the motive behind it. The unidentified men were also spotted removing bamboo sticks used to demarcate the bodies buried in the sand. Meanwhile, teams of police, administration and Prayagraj municipal corporation were also seen creating awareness among people not to bury bodies in sand.
