Coimbatore: City police on Tuesday arrested two men for stealing a digital camera worth Rs 2.6 Lakh from the shop in Gandhipuram three days ago.
Sriram, 21 and Surya, 20, both of them from Tirupur, came to the store with the pretext of buying a new digital camera on Saturday.
“One of them entered and pretended like checking the camera and clicking on a few pictures.
Suddenly he ran with a camera and jumped on a motorcycle where his friend waited and escaped,” said a police officer.
Following complaints from the Ballasubramanam shopkeeper, the Kattoor police registered fir and started an investigation.
The police checked CCTV footage in the area and found the Mortorcycle registration number where the duo escaped.
Based on that, the police traced the existence of the two men and arrested them.
Furthermore, they were produced before judicial judges and returned in the custody of the court when questioned by the police, Sriram said he was interested in photography and because he was unable to buy a digital camera, he decided to steal one with his friend’s help.
