Mumbai: Mumbai police have arrested two people from the neighboring districts of Thane for allegedly harassing a 10-year-old girl by sending obscene pictures and videos to him through a social messaging platform, said an official on Saturday.
Both were accused of also forcing underage children to share their nude pictures and videos with them and threatened to kill their parents if he failed to do it, he said.
The Duo defendant has been identified as a bright Janiyani Bhajanlal (29) and Ajay Tukaram Mhatre (30), both residents of Bhiwandi, police said.
The incident was revealed on Thursday afternoon, when the girl’s father approached the Meghwadi police station with a complaint that two people were not sexually known to harass their daughters and pampering themselves in voyeurism through the social messaging application, he said.
“The girl’s parents have gave him a smartphone to class and online studies.
But when he entered his account in the Snapchat application, he received obscene photos and videos from an unknown person.
The defendant began sending pictures and videos repeatedly to him and also.

DCP Datta Nalawade (Detection-1) said based on complaints, the police launched the probe and after technical analysis, the number of cellphones from one of the defendants was tracked to Bhiwandi.
“Therefore the crime branch team led by Police Inspector Maheshkumar Thakur went to Bhiwandi and arrested the one accused and in accordance with the information provided by him, nabbed one more than Thane,” he added.

After interrogation, the two defendants were taken to Mumbai and handed over to Meghwadi police, after they were arrested, the official said.
