Mexico City: Mexico Baseball Authority announced on Monday that two players have been positively tested for Covid-19 just a few days before they go for the Tokyo Olympics.
“At the beginning of the Mexican baseball option meeting, two positive cases of Covid-19 asymptomatic were detected,” said the Mexican Baseball Federation and the Baseball Mexican League, adding that the players were Hector Velazquez and Sammy Solis.
Two jugs, who play for ACEREROS DE MONCLOVA, are placed in isolation cells “immediately in their hotel room where the national team gathered.” All members of the national team were tested again Monday morning with a PCR test.
Training scheduled for night at Alfredo Harp Helu Stadium in Mexico City was canceled.
The Mexican baseball team, who qualified for the first time to participate in the Olympics, has maintained departure scheduled for Wednesday for Tokyo.
The team was in Group A, where they were scheduled to face the Dominican Republic on July 30 and Japan the following day.
