Biharsharif: Two more died on Monday, took the death toll at the Hooch Nalanda tragedy to 13 on Monday.
Four others with blurry vision and other complications fighting for life at Biharsharif Hospital.
The two who died on Monday were identified as Deamak Paswan from Singarhaat and Shyam Kumar from Chhoti Pahadi under the Sohsarai police station area.
Eight people from Chhoti Pahadi and two of Parbhu Bigha had died on Saturday which was suspected after consuming fake liquor on January 14.
A few hours later, a Prahlad Mistry of Chhoti Pahadi also gave up on internal injuries caused by consumption of liquor.
The district government identified 64 houses built illegally in Chhoti Pahadi and used for manufacturing liquor and smuggling.
The eviction notice was inserted into the houses on Monday, said Nalanda DM Shashank Shubhankar.
He said the actions for government property encroachment would begin against those who refused to empty the structures built illegally within 15 days.
Secretary of the Principal, Excise, Prohibition and Additional Registration, Pathak KK on Monday held a high-level meeting with the Secretary of the State House K Senthil Kumar, ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Singh, Commissioner of Excise B Kartikey Dhanji, IG (Central Range) Rakesh Rathi , IG (ban) Amrit Raj, Nalanda DM Shasshank and SP Ashok Mishra at Biharsharif to take stock situation.
Pathak met a grieving family at Chhoti Pahadi and asked DM to order smugglers, distributors and consumers of hardcore liquor under the CCA.
He said the district government has also been instructed to implement the legal provisions of the ban and find sustainable alternative sources under the jeevikoparjan project for those who have been in the liquor business before the implementation of the ban on April 2016.
Biharsharif conscious SDPO SHIBLI NOMANI SIX LIQUOR SMUGGLERS, Including the kingpin allegedly providing false liquor to the deceased on January 14, was arrested.
He said the police also recovered a large number of Liqour, IMFL, packaging materials and equipment used in liquor packaging from the region.
Nalanda SP Mishra said about 40 smugglers of liquor and their supporters had been arrested from all districts in the last 24 hours.
He said the entire network of Smuggling Liqour would soon be dismantled.
Meanwhile, Chirgwan’s Lok Jansakti Party Head (RAM Vilas) met with a grieving family at Chhoti Pahadi on Monday and dropped a lot on Cm Nith Kumar for his liquor policy.
He said innocent people included in the weaker parts of the community were being killed because loose in the implementation of the Legal ban and the main minister found no time to entertain grieving families in his own district.
