Two more members of the Delegation of the Texas Democratic Party party who fled their countries to postpone the part of what they said was that the limiting electoral law had been tested positively Covid-19, officials said on Sunday.
The Texas House Democratic Caucus said in the email statement that it now provides Daily Covid testing for more than 50 parliamentarians who fled Texas.
So far, five members of the delegation have been positively tested for Covid – and all are fully vaccinated.
Delegation members met last week with several top leaders, including Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris’s office said that they did not consider the vice president, who was fully vaccinated, as well as his staff at risk of contact because they were not closely related to one of the five delegation members who had tested positive.
Harris visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Hospital on Sunday for a previously scheduled medical appointment that was not connected with the situation with the Texas Democrats, his office said.
The Covid-19 case in the United States has surged during the past week with new cases up 70% and death rose 26%.
Texas Democrats last Monday left a special legislative session called by the Governor of the Republic of Greg Abbott to pass the new voting law and other steps.
The proposed polling law will prohibit the location of the voting of the drive-through and 24 hours, adding to the new identification requirements to chase the election and empower partisan poll observers.
Democratic parliamentarians performed similar walkouts on May 30 to boycott sound in the previous version of the electoral law just before the legislative regular session ended, pushing Abbott to call a special session.
Texas is one of the many countries led by the Republic encourage new election restrictions on behalf of election security improvement, citing former President Donald Trump’s wrong claim that the defeat of the November election is the result of widespread fraud.
