Beijing: China reported nine cases of Covid-19 transmitted domestically on October 18, the highest daily calculation since the end of September, with the latest outbreaks pushing two northern border areas to uphold the lock.
Under the national policy of zero tolerance against the domestic Coronavirus cluster, cities with new infections have quickly tracked and tested infection contacts and closed higher risk areas.
Five of the nine new local cases were found in the city of Northwestern Xian in Shaanxi Province, and two were in the northern Chinese region of Mongolia in, data from the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Tuesday.
The city of Erenhot in the Inner Mongolia, which borders Mongolia, suggested 76,000 residents on Monday not to leave their housing compounds unless necessary.
On Tuesday morning, had reported four local cases since October 13.
Travel inside or outside the city is prohibited, except for important cars with official permission, Erenhot’s health authority said.
Ejina Banner, the administrative division in another part of Mongolia in, has closed all the incoming and outlines, launching a testing scheme of 36,000 populations and suspended schools, the local authorities said.
Ejina has found five new local cases on Tuesday morning in the latest outbreak.
All closely related to two patients were found in Xian on October 17, the local authority said.
The city of Xian has closed several tourist locations for disinfection, and those who come from outside the Shaanxi Province must show evidence of negative test results within 48 hours before they can visit the tourist location or stay at the hotel.
The Southern City of Changsha in Hunan and Yinchuan Northwestern Province in the autonomous Ningxia region also reported one case for October 18, NHC data showed.
Yinchuan has advised residents not to leave the city for unnecessary trips, and close public places such as bars and cinemas in two districts with a higher risk of viruses.
The capital of China, Beijing, reported its first local case since August on Tuesday – someone who was on the same train with an infected person in Yinchuan.
China has 25 Coronavirus cases on October 18, including infected tourists who arrived from abroad.
China also detects 19 new asymptomatic patients for October 18, which are classified separately from confirmed cases.
