Two platforms again at the Mangaluru Central train station in September

Mangaluru: Southern Railway (SR, Palakkad Division) has a plan to complete the work of two platforms at Mangaloru Central Railway Station in September.
General Manager Sr.
John Thomas said work on two additional platforms at the station had begun.
“Pit line development work will be completed in March and a new platform will be ready in September.
The additional platform will help the train operate more trains to the Mangaluru Central train station by considering the people’s demands from the region,” he told reporters after holding inspections Annual on Tuesday.
Paschima Karavali Railway Yatri member Abhivridhi Samithi filed a memorandum urging the SR Palakkad division to speed up work on the additional platform.
They also demanded a second entry point to the train station from the Attavar side.
GM said that the second arrival hall would also be developed together with the additional platform.
In memorandum, Samithi has urged SR to operate the Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction Special Express train from Mangaluru Central (using the Bay Line platform) instead of operating it from the Mangaluru Junction train station.
They also urged the train to run Yeshvantpur-Mangaluru Junction Day Express (GomatesHwara Express) to the Mangaluru Central train station with a revised time and to extend the Mangaluru-Puture passenger train to Subrahmanya Road.
Activists G K Bhat said CSMT Mumbai Express must be extended to the Mangaluru Central train station and termination must be provided for Matyagandha Express in Junction Mangaluru.
Tri-weekly Bengaluru-Mangaluru Central Express through MySuru must be made a train everyday, he added.
GM said the demands to extend the train service to the Mangaluru Central train station would be considered as two more platforms being built.
GM said the passenger train Chervathur-Mangaluru, which helped thousands of students from Kerala studying in Mangaluru, will soon be introduced.
“We have suspended train services after a pandemic.
Services from several passenger trains have not been continued since Kerala has recorded more than 45% of Covid-19 cases in this country.
After reviewing the Covid-19 situation, especially the threat of omicron variants, the train will immediately continue the train Passenger service, “he said.
