Surat: On the occasion of World Environment Day on Saturday an effort will be made to recover the green cap dropped because of cyclone Tauktae at Diamond City.
As many as 600 trees will be planted in the spot where almost 300 trees had obtained uprooted through the cyclone.
Approximately 750 trees have been ruined as a result of strong wind from the cyclone a month.
At locations where the whole tree has been uprooted, the backyard section of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will plant neem trees.
Nearly all trees which obtained uprooted were of distinct species and relatively weaker when it comes to devoting heavy gusts.
“We’ll soon be planting neem or even ficus trees in most areas.
At every place where a single tree has been uprooted, we’ll plant two trees,” stated J Gautam, superintendent, backyard section of SMC.
The majority of the trees uprooted from town were close the footpaths.
“Native species tend to be more powerful in comparison to trees also it has a number of advantages.
The harm to green pay can be reduced by planting native trees,” Gautam additional.
Meanwhile, the environmental activists valued SMC’s initiative but proposed that planting only indigenous trees wasn’t an option for improved survival rate of trees.
“Fresh farm instead of uprooted trees is also a great initiative.
However, neem demands dirt where its origins may go deep and it’s also a kind of tree that develops on relatively dry place,” said Darshan Desai, also a volunteer of Prayas Team Environment (PTE).
“The floor is more difficult because of numerous layers of rock and other stuff.
This can hamper the development of native trees such as neem,” he added.
