Two women fight for life after acidic attacks in Gujarat

Rajkot: A pregnant woman and her sister fighting for life after being attacked with acid in Amreli town in Savarkunla on Sunday night.
They were shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital due to severe injuries.
According to the complaints registered at Police Station Savarkundla, Kajal Parmar (24), who is pregnant, and brother-in-law (husband and wife) Manisha Makwana (33) was attacked with acid by Anil Rathod (24) and his father Pravin (52) On Sunday evening.
Anil wanted to marry Kajal sister-in-law.
However, Kajal married to Deepak a year ago.
On Sunday, he and his brother-in-law went to see a doctor.
“When they come back from the clinic, the father-son duo on a bike waylaid Kajal asked him to respond to divorce and marry the brother-in-law Anil,” said N K Goswami, police inspector SavarkAndla.
When Kajal declined his offer and revealed that she was pregnant, Anil lost his temper.
Anil had brought a bottle full of acid and threw it at the two women.
They both suffered injuries to the face, neck, and chest.
According to police, they first rushed to Amreli Civil Hospital and then taken to Rajkot for further treatment.
Their condition is said to be critical.
The defendant was arrested and booked under IPC sections attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and relevant sections of IPC.
