Aurangabad: City police have arrested two women on charges of buying two children under the age of 55,000 and Rs 1 Lakh, and then forced them to beg.
The defendant has been identified as Jadhav Janabai (59) and his daughter Savita Pagare (33).
They were produced in court on Thursday after that, they had been sent in police custody three days.
When contacted, the investigation officer and police sub-inspector Shrikant Bharate said, “The incident was revealed after a social worker found that the women defendants brutally attacked children two and five years.” A police team rushed to the Ramnagar area and saved the two children handed over to the Child Welfare Committee on Thursday.
Authorities say women are thought to be part of a larger racket involved in making money by forcing children underage into beggars.
In accordance with the complaint submitted by Devraj Veer, a social activist, he saw the duo the children attacked children and objected to their actions.
However, they did not pay attention to His requests and continued to arouse children.
Police said during the probe preliminary, the defendant was asked about their relationship with minors.
The defendant claimed that they had adopted children.
Then, the defendant also produced two bond papers each RS 100.
The bond paper stated that they had bought a two-year-old child for RS 55,000 and was five years old for RS 1 Lakh.
An official woman from the Department of Child Welfare, quoted a statement of underage children who were saved, said the defendant not only attacked children, but also seized basic cleaning facilities so that people would sympathize and give them alms.
According to the police findings, by making these children begged on the streets and signals of traffic, people get whatever between Rs 300 to Rs 700 every day.
