Kalyan: Mahatma Phule Police arrested two women who would target buyers who went to Kalyan Market to buy gold jewelry or to improve their ornaments.
They will steal gold with slapping the victim’s bag in the market crowd.
The defendant was Aarti Patil (25) and Shalini Pawar aka Shalan (35).
The police said Aarti’s husband was a citizenship official.
He stole to fulfill his desire for a luxurious lifestyle.
Police said in the last two years the two women have committed eight violations in the Kalyan market area.
The police have recovered 158 grams of gold 8 lakh from the two defendants.
Because of the increasing cases of theft in the market area, DCP Sachin Guntal has formed a special team led by the Police Inspector Assistant Deepak Sarode who goes through different CCTV recordings in the market area and uses other technical details reaching Usgo.
Ashok Honmane, Senior Police Inspector from the Phule Mahatma Police Station, “Probe has revealed that Aarti and Shalini will first be used to cover the target woman and then Aarti uses sharp weapons such as a knife or cutting machine to be used to steal Jewelleries”.
