Ghaziabad: Two people, including labor contractors, died after a portion of a three-story house collapsed while men painted their walls in the Vasundhara 1 sector on Thursday, police said.
Kin the victim has accused that the structure of Reyot and the homeowner realized it but the police had not initiated any action against him.
Labor contractor Sonu (22) and his team Firoz (30), both Nandgram residents, painted a house owned by one Manoj Tyagi, for the past 12 days, police said.
On Thursday, the two men painted the façade on the second floor of the building with a structure such as homemade swings when part of the wall collapsed in men.
“Around 2pm, part of the wall collapsed through Sonu and Firoz from a structure such as a hammock.
While Sonu died at that place, Firoz died on his way to the hospital,” Bijendra, Sonu, told Ti.
He claimed that Tyagi had given a painting contract and washing the home interior watch to both men at first.
“As soon as they finished work, Tyagi asked them to paint the façade too.
Sonu and Firoz have made handmade swings with the help of a rope and stand on it to paint the wall,” he said.
Bijendra said the homeowner knew the wall was weak but did not take steps to defend it.
“The police must take action against Tyagi,” he said.
Abhay Mishra, Circle Officer Indirapuram, told TI that the body was sent for an autopsy and the report was awaited.
“We have not received complaints, but we will investigate this problem,” Mishra said.
