Pune: Scientists have linked this year’s severe bloody outbreak with “evil strains” from a viral disease born by mosquitoes.
A molecular study of blood samples of patients infected with 1,413 dengue on the Medical Research Indian Council of the Medical Institute of Virology (ICMR-NIV) has confirmed that the Dengue 2 (DENV-2) virus is a strain or serotype that is dominated to circulate in Maharashtra this year.
Dengue virus has four different strains – DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4.
Treating doctors said they also came across patients who showed the emergence of severe symptoms and rapid development – some sufficient DENV-2 properties could be identified.
Another important indication that arises this year is the ability of DENV-2 to “master” individuals who were previously infected, causing an increased or double antibody response which leads to increased viral intrusion in cells and triggers a higher inflammatory response, penetration of more organs tall.
All of these factors eventually lead to clinically severe diseases.
Some of the leading cities, such as Pune, have three strains – DENV-1, DENV-2, and DENV-3 – Socirculase in 2019-20.
However, there are relatively fewer cases.
As part of the National Vector Disease Control Program (NVBDCP), ICMR-NIV supports Maharashtra and Goa countries to understand the circulated serotypes of the dengue virus.
Recently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been added to the list.
The Bengaluru ICMR-NIV field unit supports the state of Karnataka.
“For 2021, ICMR-NIV has tested 1,413 samples from Maharashtra, 209 of Goa, 28 of Andhra Pradesh and 385 samples from Karnataka.
DENV-2 is a serotype that is dominated to circulate in the state of Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Previously.
Previously In 2018, DENV-1 and DENV-3 were serotypes that were dominated to circulate in Maharashtra, “said an ICMR-NIV official.
Besides adults, the dengue virus strains also affect many children.
“This year, we witnessed more and more children with bloody fever.
Therefore, it seems to be a more severe dengue season compared to previous years,” said Deenananth Mangeshkar Hospital Intentivist, Patil Sumant.
“DENV-2 does not have a very specific manifestation separating it from other strains but can be recognized by the beginning of severe symptoms and rapid development,” he said.
The case of dengue fever peaked in Maharashtra between August and October this year.
“Cases have not dropped until now but are stable and does not deterior further,” said Patil.
“Some northern countries such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and South countries such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have a dengue fever ongoing .
Health crisis in adults and children, mostly related to DENV-2, “he added.
Secondary dengue is the biggest risk factor for dengue fever and severe doctors have witnessed the increase in these cases over the past four months.
“We saw a fairly surge in the case of secondary dengue infections this year in the past four months, where dengue fever was very severe and Patients undergo a lot of complications, “said the doctor based in Pune Abhijit Lodha.
During the primary (first) dengue infection, PAT Level Dengue IgM Isents Antibodies are very high, but they tested the negative for Dengue IgG antibodies.
“But on secondary bloody fever infections (the second time), patients tested the positive two antibodies.
And their IgM antibody level was lower than IgG.
The IgG level actually increased during secondary infection,” Lodha said.
The state enrolled 6,374 cases of dengue fever and 1,537 chikungunya cases until September 14.
Eleven people have died of dengue viral fever.
There were 2,029 cases of dengue fever and four deaths from disease and 422 chikungunya cases were registered during the same period last year.
