“Preliminary requests show that some cases related to suicide reduction (part 306 IPC) are mistakenly registered under sati prevention law.” DGP (CID CRIME) Anil Pratham said he was on leave and did not realize this problem.
However, Director General of Police Ashish Bhatia said, “There is no example of sati in Gujarat, but if the data has been included in the public domain, we will ask and correct this error.”
