Las Vegas: Tyson Fury retained the WBC heavyweight crown on Saturday with a spectacular knockout of Deontay Wilder when their trilogy battles gave a classic boxing.
In the epic battle in front of 15,820 fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the two fighters were broken down on several occasions in a contest full of bends that were impossible and spinning as two traded rivals.
Fury seemed to have gained an advantage after a wild floor in the third round, only for the 35-year-old player from Alabama to respond with two knockdown anger that had the English champions holding on fourth.
And still …
Wilder down once again on the 10th with the right hook.
Wilder answered bravely to Knockdown with anger shake.
But the nature of a brutal energy battle, and physically relentlessly, finally took the victim in 11th.
With Americans run out and on the rope, Fury lands a decisive combination.
The right uppercutter scrambles the wilder’s senses before Fury crashed into the right hook to the temple of his opponent who sent the challenger to the canvas, barely aware.
“Never doubt me,” Fury said afterwards.
“When the chip goes down I will always give.” I gave him glory for victory.
He was a tough man – he took a few great shots tonight.
“It’s a great fight tonight and any trilogy in history.” First of all Saturday is the third installment of fierce competition between Fury, “King Gypsy” which turned itself and Wilder, a heavy knockout specialist considered as one of the most destructive backs in sports.
Fury has scored the seventh seventh in their second opponent 20 months ago, after the two men shared a controversial draw in their first meeting in Los Angeles in 2018.
The two fighters entered the rings on the heaviest Saturday, with Fury to tip on a scale At 277Lbs (125.6 kg) and Wilder at 238lbs.
Wilder’s Camp said the extra bulk was designed to give their fighter fast round pounds.
But even though Wilder began aggressively, working in the middle of Fury in two opening rounds, he could not find precision to hurt anger that was difficult to understand, which with the contrast repeatedly scored with his right.
The fight seemed to have swung in support of Fury in the third, when he landed the left hook and a pair of right ulpercuts to make Wilder down.
Americans finished round confused and on the rope with Fury ready to go to kill.
But it was very wild to strengthen in the fourth round to put anger on the canvas twice, once with the one who was feared straight to the right and again with the right hook.
This time anger seems to be in danger, but the champion is able to clean his head and survive.
Anger then recovered to dominate the middle round, repeatedly amazing which shows extraordinary resistance in the face of attacks.
But right when it looked as if denouement could come at any time, Wilder called another rally in the ninth round, shaking anger once again with a very big right hand.
But the momentum shifted back to Fury at 10 when he opened with a devastating exchange to the wild floor.
Once again Americans somehow called the power to fight, shaking anger near the end when fans roared their appreciation.
Wilder’s resistance finally broke out in round 11 though because Fury’s last combination settled the attractive battle.
