Dubai: The United Arab Emirates have agreed to the use of a protein-based Covid-19-based emergency vaccine and it will be available to the public as a booster dose from 2022 January, the Ministry of Health said.
The vaccine will be produced and distributed by a joint venture between the UAE 42 group and China National Biotec Group (CNBG), the Chinese National Pharmacy Group Unit (Sinopharm), the Ministry said in a statement about government media on Monday.
The agreement occurred after a UAE-based study which included individuals who were previously vaccinated with two doses of inactive Sinopharm CNBG vaccines, the Ministry added.
UAE, the Federation of Seven Emirates, on Monday reported 1,732 new Coronavirus cases and one death.
The authorities, who did not provide interference for each Emirate, said that around 91% of the population of around 10 million was fully vaccinated.
