Jerusalem: The United Arab Emirates officially opened his embassies in Israel on Wednesday, inaugurated his diplomatic office in Tel Aviv less than a year after the two countries announced they would build open relationships.
Speaking at the ceremony, Israeli President Isala Herzog, said the opening of the embassy was “an important milestone on the journey with us towards the future of peace, prosperity and security for the Middle East.” The inauguration of Emirati Embassy came two weeks after Israel cut the ribbon at his embassy in Abu Dhabi during the visit of the Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to the UAE in June.
Israel and UAE officially established diplomatic relations last year after decades of clandestine.
The two countries signed a US-broker normalization agreement on the White House Grass in September, and the busyness of the bilateral economy and collaboration within a few months.
The UAE Embassy is located in the same tower as the Israeli Stock Exchange in the heart of the Tel Aviv business district.
Most countries maintain the Embassy in Tel Aviv because the status of Jerusalem is debated, one of the hardest problems in the Mideast conflict.
The US moved his embassy to Jerusalem in 2018, and a handful of countries had followed.
Israel arrested East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East War and then annexed him in steps that were not recognized by most of the international community.
The city is an Israeli parliamentary seat, the Supreme Court and many government offices.
Palestinians look for East Jerusalem as the capital of independent countries in the future.
The UAE Ambassador to Israel, Mohamed Al Khaja, told reporters that the embassy would be “the base for our duty to continue to build our new partnership, to find dialogue, not disputes, to build a new peace paradigm and provide a model for a new collaborative approach to resolution Conflict in the Middle East.
“
