Dubai: The Houthi Movement which is in line with Iran Yemen said on Monday it had carried out an attack on the United Arab Emirates after the authorities in the Gulf State reported two fires in the Abu Dhabi capital which might be caused by drones.
Police Abu Dhabi said three fuel tanker trucks had exploded in the Industrial Musaff area near the Adnoc oil company storage facility and that fires broke out on construction sites at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
“The initial investigation found a part of a small plane that might be a drone on both sites that could cause explosions and fire,” police said in a statement about the WAM state news agency.
There was no “significant damage” of the incident and full investigation was launched, the statement was added.
Military spokesman Houthi Yemeni movement, who fought against a military coalition led by Saudi Arabia and included the UAE, said the group launched a military operation “deep in the UAE” and will announce details within a few hours.
The pro-coalition forces supported by the UAE recently joined against Houthi in Yemen’s energy-producing areas in Shabwa and Marib.
UAE mostly scaled their military presence in Yemen in 2019 but continued to hold fast through Yemen forcing it armed and trained.
Houthi has repeatedly launched a cross-border and drone missile attack in Saudi Arabia and in the past threatening to attack the UAE.
