Abu Dhabi: United Arab Emirates (UAE) sent aircraft carrying “urgent medical and food assistance to Afghanistan on Friday, the official WAM news agency said, almost three weeks after the Taliban took over.
“Help comes within the framework of the humanitarian role played by the UAE to provide full support for the Afghans of brotherhood in the current situation,” said WAM.
The UAE Foreign Ministry confirmed to AFP that “this is the first aid flight (Emirati) since the recent incident in Afghanistan”.
Taliban fighters are celebrated with a shot on Tuesday, after the last US troops left Kabul, closing the Airlift surgery for bustle which saw more than 123,000 foreign nationals and Afghanistan fled.
The United States invaded Afghanistan and overthrew the Talibani government in 2001 after 9/11 attacks by Al-Qaeda, who sought protection in the country.

UAE is one of a number of Gulf countries which are instrumental staging posts for evacuation flights for foreigners and Afghanistan, along with Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
