Dharwad: University of Agricultural Sciences students, Dharwad has developed innovative products such as poultry feed, corn-based paper and chocolate areca nuts and ready for commercial production.
These products are promoted under the World Bank funded by the Nahep-IDP.
Director of Research SS Dolli, Professor PL Patil and Main Investigator PU Krishnaraj said the product has been developed from waste such as Pupah Sutra Caterpillar, corn husk and corn shank.
High quality products and available at very low prices, they said.
The university encourages these groups to produce it on a large scale and develop income models.
Each group is provided by RS 25,000 seed money to start commercial production.
It is expected that farmers benefit from new products because they are cheaper and have high quality.
Apart from this, waste like Pupae silkworm and corn husk which causes pollution to be included in productive use, said Dolli.
