UGC gives a nod to do the geography geography, philosophy

Vadodara: There is good news for those who aspire to become teachers in the field of geography and philosophy.
The University Grant (UGC) commission has given permission to conduct a Gujarat state feasibility test (GSET) in geographic and philosophy subjects.
The gset determines the feasibility of the Professor’s assistant post at the State University and College.
After both subjects were dropped in 2019 from the state’s feasibility test, the University of M S has received several representations to reintroduce the subject.
MSU is the country’s nodal body to set Gujarat.
Based on the representation carried out by Vice-Chancellor Professor Parimal Vyas MSU, UGC made a decision to allow him to enter both as an additional subject for the gset.
Vyas received the UGC letter to provide a please on Tuesday.
In 2019, while two subjects – social work and earth science were introduced as an additional subject in the gujarat set, geography and philosophy dropped from the list of subjects.
“Now, we will conduct an exam for geography and philosophy in the Gset 2021 which will be held on December 26,” said Professor C N Murthy, Secretary of the GSET member.
“By reintroducing from these two new subjects, the gset will now be taken in a total of 25 subjects,” he said, adding that the university has provided UGC regarding vacancy positions.
“There is a representation of students.
During the Gets Steering Committee chaired by the VC where the Commissioner of the Higher Education and an UGC official was also present, it was decided to submit a proposal to UGC to reintroduce both subjects.
Our proposal has been considered positive,” he said.
