University Grants Commission (UGC) issued an idea note about the mixed manner of learning and teaching in universities and schools that haven’t gone down well with those academia who assert it is premature to anticipate the vast majority of pupils to accustomed to internet learning.
Based on UGC’s draft recommendations issued higher education institutions (HEIs) could be permitted to teach around 40 percent of their syllabus of each class through internet way and the remaining 60 percent through offline instruction.

Rajnish Jain, secretary & CVO, UGC, states,”The mixed teaching-learning approach will likely be flexible, engaging, lively and successful for teachers in addition to pupils, particularly during the Covid times when courses aren’t occurring in the physical manner.
”
However, academia opines that online instruction for a replacement of post-secondary courses isn’t viable because of insufficient equipment and infrastructure using the vast majority of those pupils.
“Together with three-fourth of those pupils coming from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, both PWD and distant regions such as NE & JK, that are largely on the incorrect side of this digital divide, the most recent UGC principle is much away in the earth reality, states Rajesh Jha, associate professor, Rajdhani College, Delhi University.
Priya Ranjan, professor, Electronics and Communications Engineering, SRM Andhra University, Amravati, states all pupils don’t belong to the exact financial standing, as a result, the commission must design processes suitable for many parts of society.
“Based on data, just 8 percent of those students may get online studying along with the remainder 92 percent are bereft of these centers.
UGC must present innovative online techniques to attain this huge chunk of pupils,” says Ranjan.
Additionally, the standard of post-secondary instruction cannot be contrasted with online education.
“Offline education is obviously qualitatively superior than the internet method, particularly in mathematics or Social Science topics.
Interacting with all the peer group and educators around the campus has got its advantages and may not have any substitute,” says Jha.
Although Jain motives out a great number of pupils do have mobiles and they’re using social media together with the simple web and email centre, Jha nullifies it stating that only having a smartphone doesn’t imply using the electronic medium.
“Effectively, just 12.
5percent of those families have net access in the home in a computing apparatus.
The information also changes from state to state.
As an instance, the sample poll states in Andhra Pradesh, 30 percent of rural families have access to the web, but just 2 percent of those individuals are most likely to have’powerful’ net access in your home, in other words, using a computing apparatus,” says Jha.
“Teachers have to determine if a specific course can be addressed by taking 5 percent of those courses online.
Institutions have the freedom to take courses online or never consider action,” says Jain.
Ranjan, on the other hand, suggests that until the time trainee courses aren’t held, the authorities must make arrangements ‘Shiksha Mitra’ by submitting content substance to student’s houses.
“Study content could be transmitted to the pupils through articles.
Even tests can be run via articles.
In case the government has a will and desire to take the battle then nothing is hopeless,” says Ranjan.
Jain is nevertheless optimistic that within a time period, technology will become more available and economical to the majority of the pupils.
“Ever since last year once the pandemic began, courses have been held on line whether in colleges or HEIs, and the majority of the pupils are finding their own methods to find entry to attend online courses in all of possible manners,” says Jain.
