LONDON: England reported 1,41,472 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, down from 1,46,390 cases on Saturday, while the number of new deaths reported to 97 out of 313, official figures showed.
The British has seen a wave of cases related to the Omicron Covid-19 variant in recent weeks, although the mortality rate is lower than during the wave of previous illness.
About 1.217 million people were tested positive for Covid-19 over the past week, 6.6% more than the previous week, while the number of deaths rose 30.9% a week earlier at 1,295.
