UK said time was almost exhausted for solutions in Brexit Trade talks

LONDON: The British government tries Saturday to accelerate the pace of talks to resolve post-Brexit trade problems with the European Union, saying both parties remain separate and time is almost exhausted to bridge the gap.
British and EU negotiators have met in Brussels during the past week to try and resolve the big difference that has erupted trade rules for Northern Ireland.
Talk moved to London on Tuesday, and the UK said “Substantial gaps on fundamental problems remained.” The British government said talks have so far been “constructive” but adding that “we need to see real progress immediately rather than trapped in the endless negotiation process because the problems on the land in Northern Ireland do not go.” Northern Ireland, which is part of England and shares the border with European Union member Ireland, remains in a single-free EU tariff market for goods, even though the UK leaves block 27 countries at the end of 2020.
The special status ensures that there is an open border on the island of Ireland – The main pillar of the Northern Ireland peace process since 1998 was Friday Accord.
But it means a new customs border in the Irish Sea for items that enter Northern Ireland from all over the United Kingdom, even though they are part of the same country.
It has brought a red ribbon for business, and causes problems with some items reaching Northern Ireland.
The European Union rules about cold meat caused short sausage shortages, and now Britain claims that Christmas crackers – lively noisemakers which are the main holiday party parties – prevented to achieve Northern Ireland.
New arrangements have also made an anger of the union of England Northern Ireland, who said the check weakens the place of Northern Ireland at U.K.
and disrupt complicated political balance where peace is resting.
The EU accused England trying to negotiate a legally binding agreement that it signed less than a year ago; Some officials said it showed the British government could not be trusted.
Blocks have agreed to make changes to the agreement, offering to reduce inspection of food, plants and animals entering Northern Ireland as much as 80 percent and to cut documents for transportation companies into two.
The British has welcomed the proposals, but also demanded that the EU court was stripped of its role resolving every dispute over the agreement and replaced with an independent arbitration – an idea that was rejected by the block.
Chairman of the Maros Sefcovic negotiator from the EU and David Frost for England will meet in London at the end of next week to assess the progress of the conversation.
England on Saturday repeated threats to trigger an emergency break clause that allowed both parties to suspend the agreement in an extreme state if there was no immediate breakthrough.
It will bring legal action from the EU, and potentially economic sanctions that can rotate in the trade war.
A battle like that is likely to hurt the URE economy more than a much larger EU.
Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney also warned that talks could not last forever, and urged Britain on Friday to respond to the willingness of the EU to compromise.
“I think the EU has shown a real appetite to compromise, and they consciously avoid creating tension,” he said.
“I can’t say the same thing in terms of the British government approach.” “I don’t think it will happen forever, that the EU will compromise and solution mode.”
