LONDON: British officials organizing the November climate summit in Scotland promised on Monday that the event would be held directly and that the government would work to ensure maximum participation by leaders from around the world despite restrictions on excessive travel due to Covid-19.
With more than 20,000 people from nearly 200 countries set to attend the COP-26, Alok Sharma said the government worked with the United Nations and other partners to ensure that all people who need vaccination can get it and there will be steps to ensure their conference is safe for delegates and people – Glasgow, the city of the host.
Behind the scenes, officials work on plans that can calm vaccination regulations and restrictions on travel for thousands of participants.
Comments come when the Panel between the United Nations government about climate change releases reports that say the planet runs out of time to control global warming.
World leaders must gather in the COP-26 and set an ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions if they hope to achieve the goal of maintaining the average global temperature up to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit), Sharma told reporters After the report was released.
“What we can’t do is delay this further,” Sharma said.
“We have postponed COP with one year, and climate change, unfortunately, did not take leave during that period.
Last year was the hottest year that recorded, and the last decade was the hottest in recording too.
And you have seen from the IPCC report that warning It gets Starker and Starker.
“British officials are working on the Covid-19 protocol for conferences that will facilitate travel restrictions for several delegates.
Under that rule, England will recognize all the vaccines that are approved when checking their vaccination status attending the COP-26.
This includes vaccines developed in China and Russia which have not been authorized for use in the UK.
Rules of England’s travel currently only recognize modern vaccines, Astrazeneca, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
In addition, the rules can make delegates who are vaccinated and are not vaccinated from what is called the Red List Countries entering the British, with a period of five days of self-isolation required after entering.
About 60 countries are currently on the red government list because of concerns about the level of infection.
Most of the travel from these countries is forbidden, and those who enter England have to spend 10 days at the hotel approved by the government at their own expense.
