Kalyan: BJP Corporator Ajit (Pappu) Gupta (35) is between two people who were killed, while three were injured after the car where he traveled by Van Pickup on Jalan Kalyan-Murbad here on Friday night.
At 11:30 a.m., Pappu and two friends returned from his farmhouse and headed for his residence in Ulhasnagar in Mintivan Ertiga them.
Police said near Panchva Mall Turning Point Van Pickup crashed into his car from the opposite direction.
The impact was so strong that the minivan was badly damaged and his three suffered serious injuries.
Local residents rushed to the central hospital in Ulhasnagar, where the doctor said the Pappu was brought dead.
Pappu Bunty’s friend, who was undergoing treatment, died on Saturday morning.
Police said two people in Van Pickup, including the owner of Sankesh Satpute and passengers, Sandesh Rasal, were injured and they were now stable and undergoing treatment.
Police Tiltwala registered a negligence case that caused death and driving rash against the driver of the Papppu car.
Police Sub-Inspector Titwala Kamare Munde said, “A major investigation revealed that the vehicle driver Ajit drove and he could not control the car when he saw Van Pickup.” The police said they had not identified the driver.
Pappu, one of the youngest canporators of Ulhasnagar, survived his wife and two children under eight.
On Saturday, supporters and political leaders from all parties gathered outside his residence.
