Thane: The police have confiscated imported cigarettes worth Rs 54.31 lakh and arrested someone to store Oly’s Owned Goods in the City of Ulhasnagar District Thane, police said on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the police stormed a general store in the city on Thursday and won the forbidden cigarette stock, a senior inspector of Krisnis Koknis from the crime unit I said.
The police have arrested Jitendra aka Jhonny Makhija, shop owner and also raided a warehouse where he kept a product that was prohibited, he said.
Apart from imported cigarettes, the defendant also saved Indian cigarettes, who did not have a warning label according to the law, the official said, added that the discounted shares were produced in Korea, Switzerland, Indonesia and London.
Violations under the relevant parts of the IPC and COPTA ACT have been registered against the arrest accused of the Central Police Station of the Ulhasnagar Zone, the official said.
