Thane: The Congress Party has demanded Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) to eliminate 73.5 percent of taxes charged to the rental property, said it was the highest in Maharashtra.
They even threatened to do a hunger strike that was not limited to UMC from September 22, if their request was not fulfilled.
The Ulhasnagar congressional district president, Rohit Salve, has given a 10-day ultimatum to Commissioner of UMC Dr.
Raja Dayanidhi demanding this tax cancellation.
He has written a letter about the same thing to the commissioner.
Salve said, “UMC charges a tax of 73.5 percent on properties provided by rental by property holders, which is the highest in the state and unfair.” He added that because of high taxes, several large companies, banks and ATM planned to move out of town.
Salep said that the civil body must also transfer staff members of the tax department who have worked at the same post for a long time.
Previously, the canporator of all parties had demanded to eliminate this tax and a resolution also passed for the same thing in the UMC UMC body meeting.
However, the administration has not made a decision about the same thing.
