Ulhasnagar: In unique initiatives by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), the number 1 office terrace environment has been used to establish a solar panel.
It will not only provide energy to illuminate the office premise but will also help save RS 1.80 lakh every year in electricity bills.
Solar power panels began to function on Wednesday.
Under the environmentally friendly green building project, the neighborhood building will be the first environmentally friendly building from Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC).
The rainwater harvesting system has also been installed.
Yuvraj Bhadane, the UMC Public Relations Officer said, “Set the cost of Rs 6 Lakh, the Civic body will restore the cost in just three years and after that, the Ward office will get 10,800 units every year for the next 20 years..” At present, Office 1 environment consumes around 900 electricity units per month which costs around Rs 15,000.
Ganesh Shimpi, Bangsal officer, who is the brain behind the project said, “Under the environment of environmentally friendly green buildings, we have also set a rainwater harvesting system that we will use to maintain a green garden.” Shimpi also said that together with solar and rainy water harvest, we also decided to put trees around the office to promote awareness about greenery in the city.
