Ullal became independent on solid waste management in 6 months

Mangaluru: The municipality of Ullal City which launched Ullal brand organic fertilizer produced using wet waste collected in the city will stop depending on pachanady for solid waste management within six months.
The municipality produces almost 12 tons of wet waste and has increased its fertilizer production by adding more units.
Within six months, the city of the city will be able to process all wet waste by itself without transporting it to Pachanady.
Commissioner CMC Rayappa said that the urban local body had processed dry and wet waste, which was produced by around 65,000 residents.

While dried waste in the municipal area is being recycled, wet waste is converted into fertilizer and is used by farmers in and around ullal.

The municipality converts an average of four tons of wet waste into an organic fertilizer a day.

The city has nine educational institutions that process wet waste at the source.
Meanwhile, a private company has begun processing chicken waste to produce feed for animals.
The waste processing unit is opened in every environment and the initiative is being taken to clean all black spots, where people dispose of waste, he said.
Mangaluru MLA UT Khader launched ULLAL brand organic fertilizer recently.
This dirt is sold to farmers at Rs 10 per kg and is available in a 10 kg package.
Requests for Ullal brand manure increased significantly, he added.
