New Delhi: Rookie Jammu and Kashmir Pacer Umran Malik is on Tuesday called the Indian squad, to be led by Gujarat Top-Order Priyank Panchal’s dough, for a tour of South Africa starting from November 23.
The BCCI senior selection committee chose 14-member squad for a tour that would have three matches four days.
All three matches will be played in Bloemfontein.
Malik 21 years old, Pacer right arm, has played only one list and eight T20 matches so far in his newborn career.
He hasn’t played a red ball game.
The player from Jammu made everyone excited at the raw rate during the IPL in the UAE last month.
He has recorded 152.95 KPJ – the fastest of tournament – during the Sunrisers Hyderabad match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which Captain Virat Kohli was left impressed.
The young man has risen through the ranks despite being humble.
His father has a small fruit shop in the area of Gujjar Nagar Jammu.
On his T20 debut, he took 3/24 against the train which included the former Indian player Karka Sharma, which was beaten for speed solely.
He has taken six goals in four matches at the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 championship even though the last J & K completed in Group C.
Panchal is 31 years old currently leading the Gujarat team at the T20 Championship Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy ongoing.
Gujarat has qualified for the quarter-finals as the Toppers Group D.
Other squad members include Batters Prithvi Shaw, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Devdutt Padikkal and Bowlep Navdeep Saini and Rahul Chahar.
