UN calls for a quick release of $ 1.2 billion aid to Afghanistan

New York (USA): The United Nations has appealed to countries that promise $ 1.2 billion for Afghan assistance quickly releasing funds to change money into food, health care and protection for the victims.
Stephane Dujarric, UN Chief spokesman Antonio Guterres on Tuesday said the promise of humanitarian assistance announced at a high-level conference in Geneva on Monday, including funding for the appeal of Flash for Afghanistan and regional response.
“We emphasize that the promise now needs to be quickly disbursed so that the United Nations and Humanitarian partners, including national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), can move quickly to change funds into food, health care, and protection for children, women and women Afghan men.
What is needed, “said Dujarric.
A spokesman said the United Nations and his partners continued to provide assistance to millions of people in need in Afghanistan.
Some of the aid missions made him from Mazar-i-Sharif through the road to Maimana and from Kabul to Jalalabad.
The convoy with the help of the UN refugee (UNHCR) reached Nangarhar, the spokesman said.
“This is the second convoy of relief items that have entered Afghanistan through Torkham’s border crossing since August 15.” Seasonal food assistance from World Food Program (WFP) continues with one month food for the vulnerable family that is considered before, he said.
A spokesman said that WFP also positioned other food and stocks at the strategic border point in Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to anticipate the need for high food and subsequent disruptions to supply chains.
Logistics hub is being established in Termez, Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, WFP also stated that the return of humanitarian flights to Kabul since the Taliban Afghanistan takeover was a turning point in the crisis.
More than 90 percent of families struggled to find enough to eat, and with the approaching winter, aid agent had “scrambled to meet massive needs before it was too late”, said WFP spokesman Tomson Phiri, who spoke in Geneva.
Humanitarian air services led by WFP (Unhas) have completed three cargo flights since reopening the air link to Kabul on September 12, bringing medical supplies on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO).
