NOIDA: In the seventh arrest in connection with the alleged recovery of massive amount of unaccounted gold and cash which was stolen from a flat in Silver City society, police have arrested the driver of father-son duo Rammani and Kislay Panday, who are at the centre of the probe.
The driver Pradeep allegedly gave away the information about the huge amount of unaccounted wealth to the main accused Gopal who further conspired the theft.
According to police, Pradeep was the one who had driven the car to the Silver City flat containing multiple bags in which the said unaccounted cash and gold were kept.
DCP (Noida) Rajesh S told TOI that Pradeep who was privy to the fact that the Silver City flat had huge amount of cash and gold and leaked the information to Gopal.
“On Monday evening, Pradeep was arrested from near the Barola T-point.
Pradeep knew about the cash and gold kept in the house and informed Gopal about the same.
Pradeep too has received a part of the share of the total theft,” he said.
Cops have recovered one lakh rupees in cash, two gold rings and one chain from his possession, police said.
Additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh told TOI that Pradeep knew about the gold and cash and he became greedy.
“He got a total of Rs five lakh and some jewellery from the theft out of which, we have recovered Rs one lakh, one gold chain and two gold rings.
More role will be clear once Gopal is arrested,” he said.
A reward of Rs 10,000 was announced against two others Gopal and Sunny, the police have also issued a reward of Rs 10,000 each against Gopal and Sunny who are among the accomplices of the main accused and others who have already been arrested in connection with the theft that took place from the Silver City society of Greater Noida.
An FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 454, 380, 411, 120-b and 34 of the IPC in Sector 39 police station against Gopal and other accomplices.
So far, Rajan Bhati, Arun, Jai Singh, Neeraj, Bintu and Anil, and now Pradeep, have been arrested in connection with the theft.
Meanwhile, Kislay Panday has approached the Allahabad high court with a writ petition seeking an order for Noida police not to “harass” him and his family members and stop media from publicising the case, Singh confirmed.
The additional DCP said that the police is responding to the writ petition via an affidavit soon.
“The prayer seeks an order for Noida police that they should not “harass” him and his family members and stop the media from publicising the case,” he said.
