Unaware of pregnancy, women with bypass history give a healthy baby

Nagpur: Even in his outward dreams, Sarita (name changed) 47 years, a severe heart disease patient with a history of bypass surgery, imagine he brought a nine-month-old baby when he reached AIIMS in the last week of October with complaints of stomach pain and fullness.
The doctor was also surprised when ultrasonography revealed Sarita’s first prenatal sonography since he was conceived.
Children since 18 years, the couple lost hope to become a parent.
They never thought Sarita’s pain passed over the past nine months could be caused by pregnancy.
The team at AIIMS provides multi-disciplinary treatments with cardiologists, anesthesia experts, neonatologists and obstetricians to conduct this unique experience in managing a patient who has undergone heartbed bypass surgery and still deliver a healthy baby.
Such cases are rarely reported in the literature, claimed by a doctor in AIIMS.
“Nearly 17 years ago, Sarita had a pregnancy that ended in the 5th month.
He was never pregnant from then.
He developed heart disease later and had to undergo Bypass Surgery (CABG) 4 years ago.
He is in treatment for hypertension Chronic and diabetes.
After the test, we decided to go for Caesar’s choice, “said Dr.
Shuchita Mungdle from the obstetrician team at AIIMS.
The team also has Dr.
Anita Yadav and Dr.
Neha Gangane.
Cardiology Dr.
Gunjan Ghodeshwar maintains the patient’s heart condition.
The part-C was done on October 27 and a healthy girl with a weight of 3.2kg was born.
Mothers and babies are happy and grateful recently dismissed with certain gudelines to follow.
According to Neonatologist Dr.
Banait Nishant, many things are unknown to babies.
Throughout pregnancy, the mother takes medicine for heart and diabetes conditions, which is known to be harmful to the growing fetus.
“Fortunately, the baby was born with a good size and flawless.
However, there was a hick-up when the baby dropped sugar levels in the first 24 hours, which was quickly treated by our NICU team,” Dr.
Banait said.
One of the challenges continued the treatment of the mother when she continued to breastfeed her baby.
The team conducted discussions with parents of children and told them about the benefits of breastfeeding babies versus a danger opportunity caused by drugs (low probabilities) received by the mother.
Parents make decisions and their babies are allowed to breastfeed.
Dr Avinash Prakash, assistant professor, anesthesiology department said it was challenging to give anesthesia to patients.
“Apart from hypertension, diabetes, and bypass surgery, patients also have a history of lumbar spinal surgery about 8 years ago,” he said.
Maj Gen Dr.
Vibha Dutta, Sirector, and CEO of AIIMS, said that the team work handling rare cases.
“AIIMS is committed to providing pregnancy and child care that is safe in the most modern and complete delivery center.
To take care of the needs of the infertile couple, AIIMS will start an art center that will provide services such as embryonic culture, embryo transfer and intracytoplasmic sperm injection,” he said.
