Ghaziabad: When the district tries to control the deployment of dengue and malaria, health officials posted in the 30-bed community health center (CHC) in Loni struggling to provide services because of its underwater amenities.
The center, which is the largest government medical facility in the area, has been closed for eight days now.
According to officials, this facility has faced problems for almost a decade and every rainy season, the place is flooded.
This monsoon, has been touted at least seven times and must be closed for weeks with a stretch.
The staff said the CHC itself was a breeding place for mosquitoes and other insects.
“All senior officials know about this.
But they failed to do anything.
This year, the water level is much higher than in previous years,” said a staff posted in the center.
This facility needs help from Loni Nagar Palika Parishad to drain water using two pumps.
CHC has bought a pump two years ago, but it was broken this year.
“It takes around a week to 10 days to get rid of rainwater.
After that, we need a few days to clean the place and let it dry out.
Management has written to the Ministry of Health, the District Administration and other senior officials several times,” said Loni Chc supervisor Dr.
Rajesh Teotia to Toi.
He added that five-six months ago, a plan was prepared to renovate the hospital and government clinics in the district with CSR funds and Loni CHC were on the list.
Work has also begun but left in the middle of the road.
The CHC place is filled with mud to raise the height of the floor, but it has been removed, he added.
Chc staff members, including five doctors, have worked from the main health center (PHC) in Mandola for the past eight days.
Teotia said the staff shifted to the top floor of CHC or to PHC every time the flood center.
“We must remain vice versa, many expensive equipment will be damaged,” said a staff member.
Loni Sub Divisional Magistrate Shubhangi Shukla said Nagar Palika Local has prepared a detailed plan to deal with waterlogging problems.
The work will begin after the monsoon, Shukla added.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr.
Bhavtosh ShanKhdhar said he had requested a junior engineer from the Department of Health’s technique wing to pay attention to this problem and provide a solution.
