New Delhi: Settlement of Underpass Ashram is now facing the last obstacle in the form of an underground power cord that needs to be relocated by Delhi Transco Ltd (DTL).
PWD officials say 96% of the complete civil work of both sides of the road approach, but the delayed work of installing the last concrete block now depends on the relocation of the power line.
A senior official who oversees the project said after relocation was carried out, PWD would complete the rest of the work at 20-25 days.
Underpass is expected to significantly increase the tribulation of traffic moving from Nizammudin to Badarpur, while reducing congestion at a busy intersection that has become a nightmare for commuters.
About 2.5 – 3 Lakh vehicles use this intersection every day.
The foundation stone for the underpass was determined by the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal on December 24, 2019.
This is expected to be completed in June 2021, but lack of labor, lockdowns induced pandemic and the financial crisis caused some delays.
After completion, this underpass is expected to reduce vehicle congestion by 53.5%.

The intersection connects Mathura Road and Ring Road with Lajpat Nagar-Sarai Kale Khan and DND Flyway.
Since development began in December 2019 Masif congestion has become common in Mathura Road and the ashram flyover during rush hour.
The initial deadline for the project was December 2020, which was extended until March this year and then further pushed for June 30, the cost of the cost of this project was Rs 78 Crore.
