Underpass in Delhi does not need to rain

New Delhi: While underpasses in the city will naturally be flooded during heavy rains, the Underpass of the Mundka Railway is unique in the remaining water at any time, thanks to the weaknesses of the design and poor construction.
The result is a vehicle must pass the water curtain falls every time they have to use an underpass.
Underpass Mundka-Rani Khera 652 meters was built together with the cost of RS 51 Crore by North Delhi Municipal Corporation and Northern Railway.
But because the area around the structure has a land water level of 0.8 m, suffering from wet excess, the problem facing underpass since its opening in 2013.
The local population accused that the project was too excited and the moisture flowed rust, pose a threat to passing vehicles.
However, even after nine years, there is no solution found and people are now afraid of the structural integrity of the facility.
Pratap Singh Bhardwir, a resident of Rani Khera Village, said that the previous water seeped through the underpass wall but now it has begun to flow from the roof.
“The technical team has carried out several inspections in recent years but there is no solution found,” he reported.
Local residents associate the problem not only high levels of ground water, but also poor drainage which causes stagnant.
Mahaveer Dabas, a village resident, said that the site should not be approved for the train bridge so it became clear that the ground water surface there was very high.
Villagers and other local activists, Mohit Prajapati, said, “Flowing Wetness has increased for years and now there is almost a waterfall from the underpass roof.
The RCC structure weakens and more than 30 accidents have occurred in recent years,” said Prajapati , Prajapati said that Sumpwell from underpass was built five years after the inauguration and waterproof was also carried out in 2016, but this has not yet helped.
“More than 400 buses and thousands of vehicles use underpasses every day.
Who will be responsible if some massive accidents occur?” He asked.
Jayendan Dabas, a former home leader in the North Corporation and board members from the area, claimed to have struggled for years to improve the situation.
“The city commissioner has visited the site three times.
About 10 days ago, a railroad connection meeting and city officials were also held,” he said.
Dabas said the design defects lay in connecting the concrete box.
“The connection between the box has not been done correctly, produces continuous water seepage from the wall and roof,” Dabas said.
“As if Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati all flow together.
The situation will not improve except the space around the walls excavated and other walls or isolation mechanisms are installed.” Board members added that he had written to the service of Railways Union about structural problems and how That can cause a big accident.
“Only trains can do repair work.
We can’t touch it without their permission,” Dabas said.
“And it is a cost intensive exercise that cannot be taken by the corporation of the city of the government financially.” A North Railway official said the development of underbridge was the responsibility of the train, while maintenance and drainage fell under corporate jurisdiction.
“There are problems with seepage and maintenance, which is carried out by the North corporation to deal with some time.
For some reason, the solution has not been successful.
We have not been contacted for the overall maintenance work,” the official said.
