Agra: The 25-year-old amarah detention in the Agra district of the prison allegedly hung himself in a prison spot, officials said on Tuesday.
Around 7pm, Monday, Yogesh Kumar hung himself by stealing (Dupatta) from the locked gate from the stairs in the prison spot, the supervisor in the district prison, said P D salonia.
Kumar was one of the accused in the case of a gang rape which took place in March.
He was charged under the IPC 376 and 394 sections, and had been prison since April 2, the official added.
Kumar’s body, a resident of the ITMAD-UD-Daulah region, was handed over to his family members after post-Mortem, said Salonia, added that Judicial investigations were underway.
